What happens to the material that has been sucked into a black hole? (Intermediate)

Material that falls into a black hole is lost from our knowledge, we can no longer learn anything about it as it has passed beyond the event horizon of the black hole. It does add to the mass and spin of the black hole, but that's the only thing we can know about it.
